"Treat Yourself To Convenience & Precision In Your Whittling Tasks!" -- Manufacturer's Description.

Don’t buy your hook knife from Joe Paul’s Crafts unless you want to spend time sharpening it. I come from the future many years from now (where we are all whittling in a post-apocalyptic wasteland) to warn you! All jokes aside, I was really disappointed with this hook or ‘spoon’ knife. I’m a total beginner to carving (I’ve only done flesh before now!) and watched a lot of videos to learn the skills I needed to tackle some spoon blanks (also from Joe Paul’s and for what it’s worth they seem fine), but was totally unprepared for what to do when the tool was blunt.

From what I’ve seen, you don’t take off that much wood at a time when whittling (it’s a slow process), but this hook knife could barely even cut into the wood. In order to sharpen it I would have needed ultra-fine grit sandpaper and a strop, which I don’t have.

If you’re an expert carver, sure you could buy this and sharpen it up, but why? I really expect tools like this to arrive sharp and it’s a massive disappointment when they don’t. Any beginner ordering the JoePaul’s Hook Knife would face the pain of having to put aside their excitement and delay starting a new hobby.

The good? I mean, it’s made in the USA. It’s a family business. But if this quality of wood carving tools is what that gets us, I’m not surprised that more business comes from outside of the US and Canada. It’s an even bigger kick in the teeth to buy more local and receive something subpar. The handle is attached well and is smooth, but with a blunt blade that doesn’t matter as much. They do offer a money-back guarantee, but as a reviewer, I can't comment on how that would go.

I really can’t recommend JoePaul’s Crafts Wood Carving Tools for all of the above reasons and would warn you not to buy them as well!

Recommended: No. I can't recommend it given the condition my purchase arrived in.

"This lightweight cream won't clog pores, is mild enough for sensitive skin, and delivers 24-hours of soothing hydration."

Skin type: Combination

Olay Sensitive Calming Facial Moisturizer (with Hungarian Water Essence) is a slam dunk for me in terms of how effective it is and how easy and comfortable it is to use. Whether it will be right for you, very much depends on your budget. If you’re looking solely based on how effective it is, this moisturiser worked fantastically well on my Combination skin.

I’ve always enjoyed Olay products for their simplicity and was pleased to see this was as good as other Olay Moisturizers that I’ve used.

------------------------

Effectiveness

------------------------

With some face creams it can take up to four weeks to see an effect, but after only a week’s use of Olay Sensitive Facial Moisturiser, I noticed a difference. My skin was more even and fresher. I felt like my skin was more hydrated, but the biggest difference was in touch feel. My facial skin felt so soft and nice to the touch. It was a massive change in softness.

-----------------------------------

Ease of use/Consistency

-----------------------------------

I found this to be a fairly thick cream, which I like. Since Olay Sensitive Facial Moisturiser is so thick though, it’s really more suitable as a night cream. Besides, they have a pump bottle version with an SPF that’s more suited to day use. Despite it’s thick consistency, it’s easily spreadable and I found it absorbed within ten minutes with no oiliness or stickiness. If I applied too much it was a bit tacky feeling.

Like other Olay creams, the lack of fragrance benefits sensitive skin, but also means it’s a really pleasant experience. There’s no weird or overly strong smell, just a gentle cream scent that won’t irritate anyone!

------------------------

Value

------------------------

I did find it to be slightly higher priced than most Olay creams, but this is likely due to it being specifically designed for sensitive skin. If you have another skin type, you can definitely find an Olay moisturiser in your budget, but those with sensitive or easily inflamed skin might want to splurge on this.

-------------------

Summary

--------------------

A great moisturiser, that’s better suited as a night cream, Olay Sensitive Calming Facial Moisturiser ticks all the boxes. Since it’s lacking fragrance, dye, oil, silicones and parabens it’s perfect for those wanting a ‘cleaner’ moisturiser. I will continue to use this.

Pros:

+ Free of all the nasties (Fragrance, Dye, Oil, Silicones and Parabens).

+ Effective in softening, calming and freshening skin. (On Combination skin)

+ Recommended and designed specifically for sensitive skin.

+ Gentle Cream scent that is pleasant.

+ Comfortable and easy to spread. Medium thick consistency.

Cons:

- Better as a night cream.

- More Highly Priced than some Olay offerings.

Recommended: Yes, for everyone except those on a tight budget (you can choose another Olay product as I’ve found them all to be very effective), but especially for those with Sensitive Skin.

"The glossy Czech glass is tempered for extra durability and the crystal nail file comes with a lifetime guarantee and effective coarse filing surface for extra-precision shaping."

I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with nail appearance but the Mont-Bleu Crystal Nail Files make me wish I was. These would make a lovely gift for Beauty Babes, Look Queens or anyone who does their nails on a regular basis. I like to keep my nails at a medium length with the classic ‘Squoval’ tip, I use a nail file to keep the shape nice and to get rid of any raggedy edges after clipping. I already own a name brand glass nail file (Julep) and so I was comparing the Mont-Bleu Nail Files directly to that.

------------------------------

Design/Effectiveness

------------------------------

The Nail Files are beautiful, that’s the first thing you notice. They have lovely graduating colours on some and solid colours on others, but there’s a nice range of both feminine and primary colours available.

They claim to be real Swarovski crystals and I believe it, these gems are so much more sparkly than the cheap gems I normally see stuck onto similar products. It’s an absolutely beautiful sparkle on the Mont-Bleu Files. They are also well-attached and not likely to fall off.

When it comes to filing nails they work fantastically well and just as well as my more expensive file. If you’ve never used glass files before, I find it’s a lot smoother than other types. It’s not going to take off the nail as quickly or messily, so it’s ideal for small adjustments and smoothing the nail tip.

-------------------------------

Value

-------------------------------

At $38.50 (at time of review) this won’t be within everyone’s budget. It IS a multipack, so better suited for gifting, stocking stuffers, or just giving yourself a lot of colour options. At the current price you get 6 Mont Bleu Czech glass nail files, with one being free. This means each has a cost of $6.41, which is a good saving on buying them individually and not that much money per file.

Since you do pay more for Swarovski crystals, I’m actually impressed by the price, but not everyone will need this many nail files.

-------------------

Summary

--------------------

A multi-pack with good value and real Swarovski crystals, this will appeal to feminine nail art lovers, but it can also make a sweet gift as part of a self-care gift bag. I’m impressed with Mont-Bleu Czech Tempered Glass Nail Files!

Pros:

Good value per file.

Beautiful colours.

Crystals seem to be genuine Swarovski, high sparkle payoff!

Covers to keep the glass protected.

Unlikely to break in transit (well packaged).

Smooth filing action and works as well as more expensive brands.

Cons:

- Not everyone will need this many nail files.

Recommended: Yes! Smaller packs are available if you need, but I love having such a broad colour choice too!
